Overview
MacroPlanr (“we,” “us,” “our”) powers the MacroPlanr application (“App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the options available to you. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
You provide information directly to us when you create or update your profile, interact with features, or contact support. This may include:
- Account details such as your email address or anonymous identifiers issued by Firebase Authentication.
- Profile metrics (age, height, weight, sex), nutrition targets, diet preferences, and progress entries you log.
- Settings choices like preferred units, language, notification preferences, and onboarding answers stored in Firebase Firestore or locally on your device.
We also collect data automatically when you use the App:
- Usage and diagnostics information (app interactions, screens viewed, feature engagement) captured through Firebase Analytics.
- Crash reports, performance data, and device characteristics (model, OS version, anonymized identifiers) provided by Firebase Crashlytics.
- Device tokens required to deliver reminders or local notifications.
- Localization data such as language and country to personalize content. We do not access precise GPS location.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide core functionality such as calorie goals, AI meal planning, reminders, and progress tracking.
- Personalize nutrition recommendations and interface language based on your inputs.
- Sync data across devices when you sign in to Firebase and back up your preferences.
- Send optional notifications after you grant permission.
- Operate, secure, and debug the App, including monitoring crashes and abuse.
- Communicate with you, respond to requests, and deliver support.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom (UK), we rely on the following legal bases:
- (a) Performance of a contract to deliver the App.
- (b) Your consent for optional analytics or notifications.
- (c) Legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the service.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it as follows:
- Service providers: Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) processes data on our behalf subject to Google’s privacy and security controls.
- Platform partners: Apple and Google process payments, in-app reviews, and store compliance events under their own privacy policies.
- Legal compliance and safety: We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect users, our rights, or the public.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred subject to this Policy.
Data Retention
We retain your profile and preference data while your account remains active. If you reset your profile from within the App or request deletion, we remove or de-identify the associated Firebase records and cached data within a reasonable timeframe, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Your Choices and Rights
You can manage many privacy choices directly in the App:
- Toggle metric units, notifications, and language in Profile settings.
- Reset onboarding data or sign out to clear locally stored preferences.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data via the Profile screen or by emailing us.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. We may ask for verification before fulfilling a request.
Security
We implement technical and organizational safeguards—including encrypted connections, authenticated access, and restricted employee access—to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you share information at your own risk.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us so we can delete it.
International Data Transfers
Our services use cloud infrastructure operated by Google Firebase with servers located in multiple countries, including the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside your residence, which may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. We rely on Google’s standard contractual clauses and safeguards to protect transferred data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, when required, notify you within the App. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
